COOLING UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Discharge the refrigerant from the system. (See DISCHARGING AND RECOVERY.)

2. Remove the dashboard. (See DASHBOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Disconnect the refrigerant line spring lock couplings from the evaporator. (See REFRIGERANT LINE (LO PRESSURE SIDE) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AJ (3.0L Duratec), YF (2.0L Zetec)].) (See REFRIGERANT LINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3].)

4. Disconnect the vacuum hose. (L.H.D.)

5. Remove the cooling unit.

(1) Remove the nuts.

(2) Carefully remove the cooling unit to avoid spilling PAG compressor oil in the passenger area. Remove the cooling unit.

6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

• Feed the vacuum hose through the opening in the cowl while installing the cooling unit. (L.H.D.)

• Before installing the temperature control cable, make sure the blend door, cable and temperature switch are correctly positioned. (L.H.D.)(See TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR CONTROL CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
