Distributor Cap: Testing and Inspection

Distributor View:





1. Remove the distributor cover and detach the ignition wires from the distributor cap.
2. Unscrew the distributor cap retaining screws and remove the distributor cap.

CAUTION: When removing the distributor cap do not impact the carbon contact of the distributor cap against the ignition rotor.

3. Carefully inspect the interior and exterior of the distributor cap for signs of cracks and burns. Replace as necessary.

Distributor Cap Testing:





4. With an ohmmeter measure the resistance of each distributor cap interference suppressor. The correct measurement should be:

Approx. 700 - 1300 ohms

5. Replace the distributor cap if the resistance is incorrect.
