Illustration Shows Models Without DAS 3 And Without Starter Control

The engine control module is informed of the initiated start operation by means of the start recognition. This is necessary, for example for the start quantity control, starter control, post-start enrichment and ignition system.

- Models without DAS 3
Circuit 50 of ignition/starter switch is switched to the engine control module.

- Models with DAS 3
If the electronic ignition switch is turned into the start position, the electronic ignition/starter switch control module (N73) outputs the start signal circuit 50 from output pin B9 to the ME-SFI control module.
The output is short circuit-proof and has a maximum load handling capacity of 250 mA.
