Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair


REMOVAL

1. Remove throttle body as previously described.
2. Scribe alignment marks on throttle body and the throttle position sensor for proper assembly.
3. Remove throttle position sensor attaching screws.
4. Remove throttle position sensor pigtail connector attaching screws, then the throttle position sensor assembly.
5. Remove bushing from throttle shaft bore.

INSTALLATION

1. Install bushing in throttle shaft bore.
2. Install throttle position sensor and gasket, ensuring that rotary tangs on sensor are in proper alignment with throttle shaft blade. Slide rotary tangs into position over throttle shaft blade, then rotate throttle position sensor to the installed position. Failure to install throttle position sensor in this manner may result in excessive idle speeds.
3. Align scribe marks on throttle body and throttle position sensor and secure sensor to throttle body, torquing two attaching screws to 14-16 inch lbs.
4. Install pigtail connector and attaching screws, torquing screws to 14-16 inch lbs.
