Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

Fig. 2 Removing TFI ignition module:

1. Remove distributor as previously described.
2. Remove TFI module retaining screws.
3. Slide right side of module down toward distributor mounting flange and then back up, Fig. 2.
4. Slide left side of module down toward distributor mounting flange and then back up.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until module terminals are disengaged from connector in distributor base. Do not attempt to lift module from mounting surface before moving TFI module toward distributor flange, otherwise pins at distributor/module connector will break.
6. Reverse procedure to install, coating metal base plate of TFI ignition module with suitable silicone grease.
