Heater Core: Service and Repair

Remove heater unit components in order as shown, Fig. 13, noting the following:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system into appropriate container.

3. Remove front seats and floor console as shown in Fig. 15 and 17.
4. Remove instrument panel as outlined under "Dash Panel Service".
5. On models with A/C, remove bolts and nuts attaching evaporator assembly to heater unit, then pull evaporator assembly out of heater unit.
6. Remove heater unit from vehicle.
7. To prevent bolts from falling into blower assembly, set air selection damper to outside air induction position.
9. Remove heater core from heater unit.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
