Removal and Replacement

SRS AIR BAG CONTROL UNIT (SRS-ECU)

Caution
1. Never attempt to disassemble or repair the SRS-ECU. If faulty, replace it.
2. Do not drop or subject the SRS-ECU to impact or vibration. If dents, cracking, deformation, or rust are discovered on the SRS-ECU, replace it with a new SRS-ECU. Discard the old one.
3. After deployment of the air bag, replace the SRS-ECU with a new one.
4. Never use an ohmmeter on or near the SRS-ECU, and use only the special test equipment, (Digital Multi-Meter) for which the Maximum test current is 2 mA or less at the minimum range of resistance measurement. View Tools and Equipment, Test Equipment.

Procedure
1. Remove hole cover, console plug, bezel and guide ring.

2. Remove floor console, Fig. 35.
3. Remove SRS-ECU and harness.

4. Place flat tip screwdriver against connector metal lock spring, then push spring toward inside of SRS-ECU and disconnect harness, Fig. 38.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
