EGR Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection

NOTE: The test procedure below is for the sensor itself. Testing of the system and its harness are found in Diagnostic Charts, Trouble Code 43.




INSPECTION
1. Remove the EGR temperature sensor.
2. Place the EGR temperature sensor in water, and then measure the resistance value between terminals 1 and 2 while increasing the water's temperature. Replace the EGR temperature sensor if there is a significant deviation from the standard value.

Temperature versus Resistance
At: 50°C (122°F) should be: 60-83kOhms
At: 100°C (212°F) should be: 11-14kOhms

INSTALLATION
Install the EGR temperature sensor and tighten to specified torque.

Specified tightening torque: 11 Nm (8 ft.lbs.)
