Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

1. Remove neutral start switch attaching screws.
2. Disconnect switch electrical connector, then remove switch from vehicle.
3. Reverse procedure to install, then adjust as follows:
a. Move selector lever to Neutral position.
b. Loosen adjusting nut of control cable.
c. Loosen park/neutral position switch mounting bolt.

d. Turn park/neutral position switch so bosses on switch align with neutral position adjustment lever, Fig. 3.
e. Torque switch mounting bolt to 4 ft. lbs.
f. Gently pull end of transmission control cable toward front of vehicle and torque adjusting nut to 17 ft. lbs.
g. Ensure selector lever is in Neutral position, then check each position of selector lever for proper operation.
