MIL ON WITH NO DTCS READ BY SCAN TOOL

PURPOSE

If the Service Engine Soon/Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) comes on, it is possible that the MUT-II scan tool may not retrieve any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) due to incorrect MUT-II connecting procedures. When checking for DTCs with the MUT-II scan tool, you must connect the MUT-II with the ignition OFF. After the scan tool is connected, then turn the key to ON.

DTCs may not be retrieved if the ignition is turned on before the MUT-II is connected.

PROCEDURE

To properly retrieve DTCs with the MUT-II scan tool:





1. With the ignition OFF connect the MUT-II to the data link connector.

2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.

3. Follow the appropriate service manual procedures for DTC retrieval.
