Pick-Up Coil Output Test

Fig. 4 Pickup coil output test connections with external IC unit.:

1. Remove distributor cap and rotor and connect voltmeter as shown in Fig. 4. Set meter to 0-5 volt AC. scale.
2. Ground coil high tension lead and crank engine.
3. Observe meter while cranking. If needle wavers replace IC unit.
4. If needle does not waver, recheck pick-up coil and wiring.
NOTE: If all other components check within specification, but a no spark condition exist, replace IC unit.
