Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Transaxle & Case Vent Information

TRANSAXLE FLUID COOLER FLUSHING

IMPORTANT:

Transaxle fluid cooler flushing must be performed whenever a transaxle is removed for service. It is essential to flush the cooler after SRTA installation, major overhaul, if fluid contamination is suspected, or in any case of pump or torque converter replacement. A cooler flushing tool, Kent-Moore number J 35944, has been sent to your dealership to properly flush the cooler. Time allowance to use the cooler flushing tool is 0.6 hours. This allowance is included in operation number K7000 (Trans R&R) for 1987-1988 model year Labor Time Guides and can be added to R&R allowances for 1982 through 1985 model years.

INSTALL CASE VENT ASSEMBLY

IMPORTANT:

Before installing the THM 125C SRTA unit into the vehicle, remove and discard the plastic case vent. (It is only used for shipping purposes.)

Included with each SRTA unit is package number 8652982 that contains two metal case vents. Select and install the same design metal vent as the one on the transaxle being replaced.
