Torque Rod: Service and Repair


1. Raise vehicle on suitable hoist and support rear axle assembly with adjustable jack.
2. Loosen track bar bolt at body brace and remove track bar bolt at axle assembly.
3. Disconnect rear brake hose clip at underbody and remove both shock absorber lower attaching nuts.
4. Remove prop shaft from vehicles with four cylinder engine.
5. Lower rear axle and remove coil springs. Coil springs must be removed before removing torque arm to avoid rear axle forward twist which may cause vehicle damage.
6. Remove torque arm rear attaching bolts, front torque arm outer bracket and remove torque arm.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Torque track bar mounting nut at axle to 93 ft. lbs. and the track bar to body bracket nut to 58 ft. lbs.
