Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1983---84 PHOENIX
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove three dust cover attaching bolts.
4. Pull dust cover back to gain access to front starter attaching bolt, then remove bolt.
5. Pull rear of dust cover backward and remove rear starter attaching bolt.
6. Push dust cover back into position, then pull starter back and out.
7. Disconnect solenoid wires and battery cable, then remove starter from vehicle.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Replace any shims that were removed.
