Some 1985-87 Fiero models with 2.8L V6 (VIN Code 9) engines may experience a high engine idle speed, possibly with a check engine light and a stored trouble code 35.

In addition to the causes described for this condition in Section 6E3 of the Service Manual is the possibility of an induction leak due* to a crack in the EGR pipe adjacent to the flange at the intake plenum (see Figure 1). Inspect this area by gently pulling aside the insulator sleeve.
