1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect 11 pin ignition (IDI) harness connector.
3. Remove IDI coil and module assembly to cam carrier bolts, then the IDI coil and module assembly, Fig. 3. If boots adhere to spark plugs use tool J-36011 to remove them by first twisting, then pulling upward on retainers.
4. Reverse procedure to install. Boots and retainers must be in place on IDI coil and module assembly secondary terminals prior to installation of assembly. Coat threads of coil and module assembly to cam carrier bolts with 1052080 or equivalent, then torque bolts to 19 ft. lbs.
