1. Disconnect battery cable, then remove steering wheel and column to instrument panel trim cover.
2. Remove lock cover, then using a suitable tool, compress lock plate and remove snap ring, Fig. 24.
3. Remove lock plate, cancelling cam, upper bearing preload spring.
4. Remove turn signal lever by pulling lever straight out of detent. If equipped with cruise control, use mechanics wire to disconnect electrical connector and remove harness from column.
5. Depress hazard warning button, then unscrew button.
6. Remove turn signal switch wiring protector.
7. Remove retaining screws and remove switch, Fig. 25. Carefully guide switch wiring up through steering column.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
