Fuel Delivery and Air Induction: Service and Repair

NON-TURBOCHARGED MODELS
1. Loosen fuel filler cap, then remove the fuel pump fuse.
2. Start engine and run until remaining fuel is consumed.
3. Engage starter for approximately three seconds, to ensure relief of any reaming pressure.
4. Disconnect battery ground cable to avoid possible fuel discharge if any attempt is made to start the engine.

TURBOCHARGED MODELS
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Loosen fuel filler cap, then connect gauge tool No. J 34730-1 or equivalent to fuel pressure connection. Wrap a towel around gauge fitting to avoid any fuel spillage.
3. Install bleed hose into a container and open valve to bleed system pressure.
4. Drain any fuel remaining in gauge.
