Compressor Replacement

A/C Compressor Mounting - 2.3L 4 Cyl:




Tool Required:
J-38-1OO-D A/C Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Station

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Recover refrigerant.
3. Raise vehicle.
4. Right front tire/wheel assembly.
5. Engine splash shield.
6. Serpentine belt.
7. Compressor hose assembly and discard sealing washers.
8. Plug or tape compressor/condenser hose end to prevent moisture contamination.
9. With 7 mm wrench, remove the stud in the back of the compressor. The stud was only necessary for assembly line purposes. Discard the stud.
10. Clutch electrical connector from compressor.
11. Compressor bolts.
12. Compressor.

CAUTION:
^ If replacing the compressor, see "Refrigerant Oil Distribution."

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Compressor and mounting bolts.
2. Serpentine drive belt. Refer to under hood label for routing.
3. Electrical connector.
4. Compressor hose assembly, using new sealing washers.
5. Engine splash shield.
6. Tire/wheel assembly.
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Negative battery cable.
9. Evacuate and recharge system.
10. Leak test.
11. Check system operation.
