Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

ECT Sensor:





NOTE: Care must be taken when handling a Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Damage to the ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.


REMOVAL

1. Relieve engine coolant system pressure.
2. Turn ignition to "OFF".
3. Disconnect electrical connector.
4. Carefully back out ECT sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. Coat threads (only) with sealer.
2. Install sensor in engine, torque to 30 N-m (22 lb.ft.).
3. Connect electrical connector.
4. Refill lost coolant.
