Ignition Cable: Service and Repair

TOOL REQUIRED:
J 39294 Spark Plug Wire Remover.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Ignition key "OFF."
2. Spark plug wires from retainers.
3. Spark plug boots from plugs using J 39294.
4. Wires from ignition coils.

IMPORTANT: Note wire placement to ignition coils and routing to engine so as to maintain correct firing order and proper clearances to engine parts that could cause damage to wiring.

5. Bolts and nuts retaining engine mount toque strut to brackets and strut from engine.
6. RH spark plug wire harness tab from strut bracket.
7. Bolts and nuts retaining engine mount strut bracket to engine.
8. Cover from LH spark plug harness.
9. LH spark plug wires from harness cover assembly and wires from engine.
10. RH spark plug wires from tabs and wires from engine.
11. Plastic conduit from RH wires (if installing new wires).
12. Heat shields from #2, #4. #6 spark plug boots.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Plastic conduit onto wires (if removed).
2. Heat shields to #2, #4, #6 spark plug boots.
3. RH spark plug wires to engine and engage to tabs.
4. LH spark plug wires into cover assembly and cover to engine.
5. Strut bracket, nuts, and bolts. Tighten nuts to 27 Nm (20 lb. ft.); bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb. ft.).
6. Torque strut, bolts, washers, and nuts. Tighten strut nuts and bolts to 57 Nm (42 lb. ft.).
7. RH spark plug harness onto tab on strut bracket.
8. Spark plug wires onto coils.
9. Wire boots onto spark plugs.
