Information Bus: Description and Operation
There are three data lines that can be accessed with a Scan Tool. The 800 circuit UART Serial Data Line is the
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) data line. It allows the PCM, Inflatable Restraint Control Module, Electronic Brake Control Module
(EBCM) (if equipped), Trip Calculator and Heater-A/C Control (CJ2) to communicate by transmitting data through CKT 800. The 1807 circuit Class II Serial Data Line is to the PCM. It allows the PCM to communicate by transmitting data through CKT 1807. The Data Link Connector is also connected with the entertainment package (CKT 835) (Entertainment and Comfort Serial Data Line) consisting of the Multi Disc CD Player, Radio, and the Instrument Cluster Head-Up Display
(HUD) which allows the Scan Tool to test the functions of the Radio. System operations can then be monitored for diagnostic purposes through the Scan Tool for each Serial Data Line.
