Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Removal Procedure

Notice: Care must be taken when handling an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Damage to the ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Relieve the coolant system pressure.

3. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector (1).

4. Carefully back out the ECT sensor (2).



Installation Procedure
1. Coat the threads (only) with sealer.

2. Install the ECT sensor (2). Tighten the ECT sensor to 25 Nm (18.5 lb. ft).

3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector (1).

4. Refill the engine coolant system.
