Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair






REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Engine/Engine Cooling.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ECT sensor.
6. Remove the #1 spark plug wire from the spark plug.

Notice: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

7. Remove the ECT sensor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Coat the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor threads with sealer P/N 12346004 or the equivalent.
2. Install the ECT sensor.

Tighten
ECT sensor to 23 Nm (17 lb ft).

3. Install the # 1 spark plug wire onto the spark plug.
4. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
5. Refill the engine coolant. Cooling System
6. Start the engine and check for leaks.
7. Recheck the engine coolant level.
