Data Link Connector: Description and Operation

The Data Link Connector (DLC) contains:
^ The UART serial data line (circuit 800) which allows the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), the inflatable restraint control module, the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) (if equipped with ABS), trip calculator (if equipped), and the heater-A/C control module (if equipped with auto A/C) to allow a scan tool to communicate with these modules for diagnostic and testing purposes.
^ The Class 2 serial data line (circuit 1807) which allows a scan tool to communicate with the PCM for diagnostic and testing purposes.
^ The Entertainment and Comfort (E&C) serial data line (circuit 835) which allows the radio, multi-disc CD player, and the head up display to communicate data with each other. In addition, the E&C serial data line allows a scan tool to communicate with these modules for diagnostic and testing purposes.
^ Unswitched voltage (B+) (circuit 440).
^ Ground (circuit 1550).
