Brake Fluid Level Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fluid level switch (1).

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in Service Precautions.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Damage to Electrical Connections Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Position a suitable container under the master cylinder to catch the brake fluid when removing the fluid level switch (3).
3. Remove the fluid level switch(3). Use needle nose pliers in order to compress the switch locking tabs at the inboard side of the master cylinder reservoir.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the fluid level switch (1) into the master cylinder reservoir until the locking tabs snap in place.
2. Install the electrical connector to the fluid level switch (1).
3. Fill the master cylinder. Use Delco Supreme No. II Hydraulic Brake Fluid (GM P/N 12377967) or equivalent DOT-3 motor vehicle brake fluid.
