A Important Preliminary Checks

Before using the Symptom tables:
^ Perform A Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check and verify all of the following items:
- The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) are operating correctly.
- There are no DTCs stored.
- Scan tool data is within normal operating range - Refer to Scan Tool Data List. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

^ Verify the customer complaint.
^ Perform the Visual/Physical Check.

Locate the correct symptom in the list. Follow the procedures in the appropriate diagnostic table. If the problem cannot be duplicated, also refer to Intermittent Conditions. Intermittent Conditions
