Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector.

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Hoist the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.




3. Loosen the knock sensor fastener.




4. Remove the knock sensor from the engine block.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Clean the threads thoroughly. Install the knock sensor into the engine block.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Tighten the knock sensor fastener.

Tighten
Tighten the knock sensor fastener to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Connect the knock sensor wiring electrical connector.
