Coolant Pipe Replacement - Intake

Removal Procedure

Notice: When adding coolant, it is important that you use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL (R) coolant. If coolant other than DEX-COOL (R) is added to the system, the engine coolant will require change sooner: at 50 000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months.





1. Drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
2. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
3. Remove the coolant inlet pipe bolt through the exhaust manifold.
4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the radiator hose from the coolant inlet pipe to oil pan bolt.
6. Remove the cover to the coolant inlet pipe bolt.
7. Remove the coolant inlet pipe and seal.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the seal and inlet pipe.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Connect the cover to the inlet pipe bolt.
^ Tighten the bolt to 14 Nm (124 lb in).
3. Install the inlet pipe to the oil pan bolt.
^ Tighten the bolt to 26 Nm (19 lb ft).
4. Connect the radiator hose to the inlet pipe.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Install the coolant inlet pipe bolt through the exhaust manifold.
^ Tighten the bolt to 14 Nm (124 lb in).
7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
