Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CONDENSER REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the condenser.
3. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the condenser.
4. Remove the radiator assembly. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
5. Remove the condenser (2) from the radiator (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Install the condenser (2) to the radiator (1).

Tighten
Tighten the condenser bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

2. Install the radiator assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
3. Install the compressor hose assembly to the condenser.
4. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser.
5. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
6. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
7. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A.
