Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair

STOP LAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disconnect the stoplamp switch electrical connector.
3. Remove the locknut (2) and the stoplamp switch (1) from the brake pedal bracket (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the stoplamp switch (1) to the brake pedal bracket (3). Secure the stoplamp switch (1) using one locknut (2). Do not tighten.
2. Adjust the stoplamp clearance. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Adjustment.
3. Tighten the locknut (2) for the stoplamp switch (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the locknut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Connect the stoplamp switch electrical connector.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
