Refrigerant Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) REFRIGERANT LOW TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400 Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.




2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C low temperature sensor.




3. Unscrew the A/C low temperature sensor (1) from the evaporator hose.
4. Remove and discard the O-ring from the evaporator hose.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the new O-ring to the evaporator hose.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the A/C low temperature sensor (1) to the evaporator hose.

Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 7.5 N.m (66 lb in).




3. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
4. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
5. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A.
