Wiper Motor: Service and Repair



WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 39232 Wiper Linkage Separator
- J 39529 Wiper Linkage Installer

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the wiper arms.
2. Remove the air inlet grille panel.
3. Remove the wiper drive system module.




4. Using J 39232 , disconnect the wiper transmission links from the wiper motor crank arm.




5. Remove the wiper motor and the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.




6. Remove the washer and nut from the wiper motor crank arm.
7. Remove the wiper motor crank arm.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the wiper motor crank arm
2. Install the washer and nut to the wiper motor crank arm.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the bolts to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).

3. Position the wiper motor and wiper drive system module to the vehicle.




4. Install the wiper transmission links onto the wiper motor crank arm with the J 39529.




5. Install the wiper drive system module.
6. Install the air inlet grille panel.
7. Install the wiper arms.
8. Inspect the washers for proper operation.
