Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair



CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the generator bracket assembly.




2. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector (1).




3. Remove the CMP sensor mounting bolt (1).
4. Remove the CMP sensor assembly (2, 3) from the engine front cover.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the CMP sensor assembly (2, 3) to the engine front cover.

IMPORTANT: Before installing the camshaft sensor assembly, apply a small amount of clean motor oil to the O-ring (6).

2. Install the CMP sensor mounting bolt (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the camshaft position mounting bolts 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




3. Install the CMP sensor electrical connector (1).
4. Install the generator assembly.
