GENERATOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the power steering pump.
3. Remove the positive cable from the generator:
1. Pull the cap back from the positive terminal.
2. Remove the positive cable nut at the generator.
3. Remove the positive cable from the stud.




4. Disconnect the generator electrical connector (3).




5. Remove the generator rear bracket mounting bolt (1).




6. Remove the generator front mounting bolts.
7. Remove the generator from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the generator.
2. Install the generator front mounting bolts.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).




3. Install the generator rear mounting bolt (1) to the generator.

Tighten the generator rear mounting bolt at the generator to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).




4. Connect the generator electrical connector (3).




5. Install the positive cable to the generator:
1. Install the positive cable to the stud.
2. Install the positive cable nut at the generator.

Tighten the positive cable nut at the generator to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

3. Push the cap onto the generator stud.
6. Install the power steering pump.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
