Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair



Proportioning Valve Replacement
Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the brake lines from the proportioning valves.
2. Remove the valves from the master cylinder body.

Installation Procedure





1. Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Caution in Service Precautions.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Important: Since these valves are adjusted in pairs to the correct control range, they must be replaced in pairs.

Install the proportioning valves to the cylinder body.
Tighten the proportioning valves to 35 - 44 Nm (26 - 33 ft. lbs.).
2. Connect the brake lines to the valves.
Tighten the brake lines to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).

3. Notice: Refer to Vehicle Lifting and Jacking Notice in Service Precautions.

Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
4. Bleed the braking system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure).
5. Lower the vehicle.
