Backing Plate: Service and Repair



Drum Brake Backing Plate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the wheel cylinder.
2. Remove the bolt and the park brake cable from the backing plate.
3. Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly.




4. Remove the backing plate (5).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the backing plate (5) with the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the park brake cable and the bolt to the backing plate.

Tighten the bolt to 7.8 N.m (69.04 lb in).

3. Install the wheel cylinder.
