Battery Negative Cable Replacement (With RPO Code LE5)

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the negative cable ground terminal nut at the tie bar.
3. Remove the negative battery cable clip (3) from the battery tray.




4. Remove the tape holding the positive cable to the negative cable.
5. Remove the negative cable from the retainers.
6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
7. Remove the radiator lower air baffle.
8. Remove the engine harness ground lead bolt (1).
9. Remove the negative cable (6).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the negative cable.
2. Position the negative battery cable terminal (6) in front of the engine harness ground terminal (5).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

3. Install the engine harness ground lead bolt (1).

Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Install the radiator lower air baffle.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Install the negative cable to the retainers.
7. Install tape holding the positive cable to the negative cable.




8. Install the negative battery cable clip (3) to the battery tray.
9. Install the negative cable ground terminal nut at the tie bar.

Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

10. Connect the negative battery cable.
