Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. If equipped with a 3.5L, 3.6L, or 3.9L engine, remove the catalytic converters. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LY7) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ4) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ9) (Service and Repair) and Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LY7) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ4) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ9 w/RPO M15) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ9 w/RPO MT2) (Service and Repair).
2. If equipped with a 2.4L engine remove the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement (LE5) (Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement).
3. Remove the heat shield nuts.
4. Remove the heat shield.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the heat shield to the underbody and the dash panel.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the heat shield nuts and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
3. If equipped with a 2.4L engine, install the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement (LE5) (Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement).
4. If equipped with a 3.5L, 3.6L, or 3.9L engine, install the catalytic converters. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LY7) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ4) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Left Side (LZ9) (Service and Repair) and Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LY7) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ4) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ9 w/RPO M15) (Service and Repair)Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LZ9 w/RPO MT2) (Service and Repair).
