Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning

Allow sufficient time for the engine to cool before removing the ECT sensor. A hot engine may cause an excessive coolant loss or a personal injury.

1. Turn the ignition OFF.




2. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector (1) from the coolant temperature sensor (2).




3. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor (1) from the engine (2).

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the coolant temperature sensor (1) to the engine and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




2. Install the coolant temperature sensor electrical connector (1) to the coolant temperature sensor.
3. Inspect and fill the cooling system as necessary. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (3.6 L) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (6.0 L) (Service and Repair).
