MVD 5 Speed - Automatic Transmission




Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the engine cover assembly. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly.




5. Disconnect the transmission wire connector, park/neutral position switch connector (2) and wire harness clamps.
6. Remove the bolt and transmission oil level indicator tube sub-assembly.
7. Remove the O-ring from the transmission oil level indicator tube sub-assembly.




8. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
9. Remove the bolt (2) and speed sensor.
10. Remove the O-ring from the speed sensor.




11. Disconnect the speed sensor connector (1).
12. Remove the bolt and speed sensor.
13. Remove the O-ring from the speed sensor.

Installation Procedure




1. Coat a new O-ring with ATF WS and install it to the speed sensor.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution)

2. Install the speed sensor with the bolt and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
3. Connect the speed sensor connector (1).
4. Coat a new O-ring with ATF WS and install it to the speed sensor.




5. Install the speed sensor with the bolt (2) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
6. Connect the speed sensor connector.
7. Apply ATF WS to a new O-ring, and install it to the transmission oil level indicator tube assembly.




8. Install the transmission oil level indicator tube sub-assembly to the automatic transaxle with the bolt and tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb in).
9. Connect the transmission wire connector, park/neutral position switch connector (2) and wire harness clamps.
10. Install the transmission oil level indicator sub-assembly to the transmission oil level indicator tube sub-assembly.
11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
12. Install the engine cover assembly. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
13. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (Service and Repair).
14. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement (Service and Repair).
