Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the engine cover assembly. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.




3. Disconnect the speed sensor connector (2).
4. Remove the bolt and speed sensor (1).




5. Remove the O-ring from the speed sensor.

Inspection Procedure




1. Inspect the speed sensor.
2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s).

Standard Resistance
* Tester Connection: 1-2
* Condition: 20°C (68°F)
* Specified Condition: 560 to 680 ohm

3. If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the speed sensor.

Installation Procedure




1. Coat a new O-ring with ATF WS and install it to the speed sensor.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the speed sensor with the bolt and tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb in).
3. Install the air cleaner assembly.
4. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
