Testing Procedures

If the front wheel alignment is suspected to be incorrect, as indicated by abnormal tire wear, impaired steering or road holding properties, etc. the following procedures should be followed:
1. Check the tire pressures.
2. Check the front wheel bearings, suspension arm mounting and the ball joints, the track rod ends and inner bail joints. Adjust or replace any defective parts as necessary to eliminate any symptoms caused by such defects.
3. Inspect the dampers and replace any that might be defective, together with any worn bushes.
4. If the car as been involved in a collision, has run off the road or such, repair any damage before undertaking wheel alignment checks.
5. To avoid any misleading readings being taken, rock the car firmly a few times to allow the suspension to settle before starting any checks.

NOTE:
^ When measuring the toe-in the car must first be rolled 2 meters forwards and backwards.
^ When checking alignment and steering angles, the car should be unladen, with nobody inside, with a full tank of fuel and on a level surface.
^ There are different instruments for checking wheel alignment, that are mounted on the wheel rim or directly on to the stub axle. For the correct utilization of such equipment, refer to the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
