Air Recirculation Not Functioning








Air Recirculation Not Functioning

Fault symptom
Defect function. Car windows mist up.

Diagnostic help
Check that the recirculation flap is in the fresh-air position when the recirculation button is not pushed in so that the recirculation motor is electrically reversed.






Diagnostic procedure

1. Checking control voltage to recirculation flap motor
- Turn the ignition key to the ON position.






- Unplug the connector: Motor, air recirculation flap: (38).






- Connect test lamp 86 11 857 between the pins 1 and 2 in the female connector.






- Turn the air recirculation on and off repeatedly.
- The red and green LED on the test lamp should go on alternately as air recirculation is turned on and oft.

Tests OK?
YES
- Replace : Motor, air recirculation flap.
- Proceed to step 2.
NO
- Repair defective lead between the recirculation damper motor and the control module.
- Proceed to step 2.






2. Final check
- Erase the diagnostic trouble codes from all systems.






- Check function.

Tests OK?
YES
- Actions taken to rectify problem were correct.
NO
- See Electronic Climate Control, Testing and Inspection.
