Service Manual Update for DTC P138O
(ABS Requested Service Light)

MODELS AFFECTED:
1996 Saturns equipped with ABS brakes

PURPOSE:
The "1996 Powertrain Controls Service Manual" does not include an explanation for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) F138O (ABS Requested Service Light). If the ABS control module detects DTCs 11, 13, 75, 87 and/or 94, it will command the powertrain control module (PCM) to set DTC P138O and illuminate the SERVICE telltale lamp. The ANTI-LOCK and/or Brake telltale lamp may not be illuminated.

Clear PCM DTC P1380 and refer to the "1996 Brakes Service Manual" for proper diagnostic procedures based on the ABS DTC set in the ABS control module.
