Service Information on New Automatic Transaxle Clutch Plate Assemblies

This bulletin is being revised to add new service information and supercedes 97-T-48, which should be discarded.

MODELS AFFECTED:

1996-1997 Saturns equipped with MP6 or MP7 automatic transaxle

PURPOSE:
New automatic transaxle internal and external tang clutch plate assemblies have been released for servicing 3rd and 4th clutch assemblies on 1996-1997 MP6 or MP7 automatic transaxles. When servicing a 1996 or 1997 automatic transaxle, and it is necessary to replace the 3rd or 4th clutch plate assemblies or the transaxle assembly, the powertrain control module (PCM) may need to be reprogrammed. Refer to the following procedures to determine if the PCM needs to be reprogrammed and for reprogramming procedures.
