4AT Transmission Change
Introduction
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform you of modifications made to the 4AT transmission.
As you may recall, the ATF filter was discontinued in June 2007 in FHI production lines and July 2007 in SIA production lines starting with transmission number 928538. A case side cover replaced the spin-on filter.
During 2008 mid-year production the transmission was once again modified, the design of the inhibitor switch and the case side cover was deleted. A visual inspection will help you identify which style transmission is in the vehicle.
Countermeasure in Production
The change in production for 2008MY vehicles took place during 2008 mid-year production, starting with transmission number 078057.
Part Information
Note:
If a remanufactured transmission assembly is ordered, any one of the three styles may be received and used in the vehicle.
Visual Transmission Identification
Repair Procedure/Information
When performing repairs or replacement, identify which style transmission is in the vehicle being serviced.
Transmissions equipped with the previous style inhibitor switch, refer to the applicable 2008 service manual.
Transmissions equipped with the new style inhibitor switch, refer to the applicable 2009 service manual.
