Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

Removing Oxygen Sensor:





WARNING: To avoid danger of being burned, do not touch exhaust system when system is hot. Oxygen sensor removal should be performed when system is cool.


REMOVAL

- Disconnect negative cable from battery.
- Disconnect coupler of oxygen sensor and release its wire harness from clamps.
- Remove oxygen sensor from exhaust manifold.


INSTALLATION
- Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
- Tighten oxygen sensor to specified torque.


TIGHTENING TORQUE
45 - 55 N-m (4.5 - 5.5 kg-m, 33.0 - 39.5 lb-ft)

- Connect coupler of oxygen sensor and clamp wire harness securely.
- After installing oxygen sensor, start engine and check that no exhaust gas leakage exists.
