Evaporator Core: Service and Repair




Evaporator

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2 On models with air bag, disarm and remove air bag module from steering wheel and passenger side as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
3. Recover refrigerant from A/C system. Care should be taken to avoid excess compressor oil discharge with refrigerant.
4. Remove blower motor unit as outlined under Blower Motor. Blower Motor
5. Disconnect A/C amplifier and thermistor wire connectors.
6. Disconnect compressor suction hose and receiver/dryer outlet hose from cooling unit fittings. Cap all opened fittings to prevent moisture from entering A/C system.
7. Remove evaporator case, then the evaporator unit. Heating and Air Conditioning

8. Remove case clamps, then separate evaporator case halves, Fig. 10.
9. Remove evaporator core attaching screws, then the evaporator core.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
