Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

- Disconnect distributor lead coupler.





- Measure resistance of pickup coil by using ohmmeter.
- If resistance is out of specification, replace CMP sensor (signal generator) as follows.

Pickup coil resistance:
185 - 275 ohms at - 10°C (14°F) - 50°C (122°F)
240 - 325 ohms at 50°C (122°F) - 100°C (212°F)

- Remove distributor cap and rotor.
- Remove CMP sensor (signal generator) securing screws and lead wire clamp screws.
- Replace CMP sensor (signal generator).
- Adjust signal rotor air gap to specifications.
Refer to Adjustments.
- Install rotor, distributor cap seal and cap.
